Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
The subclass 491 visa is for skilled individuals who are sponsored by an eligible relative or nominated by a state or territory government to live and work in regional Australia. You may visit and depart from Australia as frequently as you’d like throughout the visa’s five-year validity. After three years have passed since you received your 491 visa, you may apply for permanent residency (subclass 191 visa).

- Spend five years in Australia.
- According to the terms of your visa, you must reside, work, and attend school in an Australian regional area. For skilled immigration, all of Australia outside of the major cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane is referred to as regional Australia. The new inclusions in the eligibility list are the Gold Coast, Perth, Newcastle, Wollongong, and the NSW Central Coast.
