The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Program (PEI PNP) Express Entry Stream does not require applicants to have a job offer from a PEI employer at the time of submitting their Expression of Interest, in contrast to many other Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams aligned with Express Entry.

Express Entry Requirement

Applicants must be included in the federal Express Entry pool in order to be eligible for the PEI PNP Express Entry stream. Candidates must be qualified for at least one of three federal economic programs to submit a profile to the pool:

  • Candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker position must at the very least have a high school diploma and at least a year of continuous full-time, skilled job experience. When gained in a position at National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B, work experience is regarded as skilled. Additionally, candidates must show they have level 7 Canadian Linguistic Benchmark (CLB) language competency in either English or French.
  • There is no prerequisite education for the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates for the CEC must have a minimum of one year of full-time, specialized job experience in Canada. While not required to be continuous, this work experience must have been obtained during the three years prior to the application. When gained in a position requiring NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B, work experience is regarded as skilled. Candidates must additionally show that they have a level of language competence in either English or French equivalent to CLB level 7 for work experience at NOC Skill Level 0 or A and CLB level 5 for work experience at NOC Skill Level B.
  • There is no minimum education requirement for federal skilled trades. Candidates for the FST program must have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled profession. Additionally, candidates must possess a Canadian authority-issued certificate of qualification in their skilled profession or an offer of employment to work in a skilled trade in Canada. Additionally, candidates must show that they have CLB Level 5 in speaking and hearing and CLB Level 4 in reading and writing in either English or French.

Application Procedure

  • A comparable Expression of Interest (EOI) system to Express Entry is used by the PEI PNP Express Entry stream. Candidates who satisfy the requirements must submit a profile to PEI’s candidate pool. The PEI Express Entry Ranking System will subsequently be used to compare all of the candidates in the pool. In one of the regular draws for the category, the top candidates will be requested to submit a complete application to the stream. Although candidates must have an active Express Entry profile in order to be considered, it should be noted that the PEI PNP Express Entry profile, pool, and ranking system are distinct from the Express Entry profile, pool, and ranking system.
  • Successful candidates must accept the provincial nomination on their IRCC online account. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the candidate will rise by 600 points after accepting the provincial nomination, all but ensuring they will be offered an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the upcoming Express Entry draw.
  • An official application for Canadian permanent residence must be prepared and submitted within the stipulated time after acquiring an ITA. Express Entry-submitted requests for permanent residency are typically processed within six months.
